Educational Partner: HTI
Phoenicia's educational partner is
HTI (www.hti.org.uk)
, a leading UK charity dedicated to raising educational standards within
schools in the UK and overseas. Liz Formby, Manager of HTI's Go4it
campaign has worked closely with the Phoenicia team to advise and assist
the production of educational resources. In association with HTI a
selection of teachers from across the UK have contributed ideas towards
the planning of the Phoenicia educational programme in order to enhance
it's benefits to schools.
Expedition Leader: Philip Beale
The Phoenicia team is led by Philip
Beale who, as a young adult, had his first taste of adventure on
'Operation Drake'- an expedition organised by John Blashford-Snell. This
experience shaped much of Philip's future and it is his intention to
enable other young people to engage in international expeditions and
cross-curricular learning
through the Phoenicia educational programme. To view more information on
Philip Beale and other members of the Phoenicia team please return to
the expedition website: click here.
Advice from DCSF
The Phoenicia educational programme has been enhanced by advice from the
Department for children, schools and families (www.dcsf.co.uk).
Minister of State for Schools and Learners, Rt Hon Jim Knight MP
commented:
"By bringing
together aspects of history, geography, design and technology, the arts
and learning outside the classroom, the Phoenicia project seems to offer
a genuinely cross-curricular learning experience for students of all
ages."
